Q: What are the basic blogTV rules to follow?
|
A: BlogTV is a site for ages 13 and up so always bear in mind that your show should have no more than a PG13 rating. Our rules are as follows:
1. No nudity in ANY form (live, picture, pornographic)
2. No sexual acts of any kind (alone or with others)
3. No copying other people's usernames, pictures or content without their approval
4. No racism/hate talk of ANY kind!
5. No physical abuse of humans or animals
6. You must be 13 or older to be on this site
7. Using blogTV is subject to the full blogTV Terms of Use

Q: How do I report the person who is harassing me or a person who is breaking one of the blogTV rules?
|
A: The next time you see a person showing porn or severe racism on cam you simply take a screen shot showing their inappropriate behavior. Send the screen shot or saved chat to moderation@blogTV.com and the moderators will handle the situation accordingly.

Q: Help! My chat keeps disconnecting and telling me that someone has taken my username! What do I do?!!?
|
|
A: If the chat is telling you that someone has taken your username, first check that you are not trying to enter two rooms at once. If you do enter two rooms at once, the second room will tell you that your nickname is in use.If you are not attempting to enter two rooms at once then you need to clear your cache/cookies and update your flash player. This will fix the problem 90% of the time. If you are still getting the red error message after doing all of these things, please take a screen shot and send it to our tech team at support@blogtv.com with an explanation of what is happening and when it started.

Q: How do I decorate my page with a banner, background and colors?
|
|
A: You customize your page by pressing "Customize Display" above your profile picture in your profile. There you will find three tabs, one for changing page colors, one for uploading a background (If you want one large picture as the background it should be 1280px by 960px) and one for uploading a banner (990px by 140px). See our blog for all of the cool things you can do with your playground as well!

Q: How can I become a moderator on blogTV?
|
|
A: We are not currently hiring any moderators.
|

Q: I am on the bottom of the Live Now page all of the time and I have more viewers than other people who are above me. Why is this?
|
A: Our Live Now page is arranged according to an honors system. If a person has been with us for a while, has not broken our rules and always tries to make good content, then he/she will be near the top of the live now page. If a person breaks the rules on occasion and/or does not try to make good content, he/she will be near the bottom of the Live Now page. Before our staff gets to know a broadcaster he/she will find him/herself in the middle of the ranking. If you are new to the site and feel you have a good show and do not plan on breaking any of our rules, feel free to contact the moderation team at moderation@blogtv.com and ask them to move your show up the Live Now page ranking.
Don't forget that you can sort the Live Now page according to your preferences. If you want to see the shows with higher viewers on top, sort according to viewers et al.

Q: How can I stay in the main chat room and still refresh?
|
|
A: Simply press the REFRESH button located on the bottom right side of the broadcast screen.

Q: How can I stop these email alerts from coming all the time?! And how can I unsubscribe from unwanted shows?
|
|
A: Press the "Disable Alert" link in the emails you wish to stop.If you wish to unsubscribe from a person's show simply enter "My Subscriptions" at the top of the home page (when you are logged in). Once you are on the page you will see subscribe buttons under the pictures of the shows. Unclick the subscribe buttons of the shows you wish to unsubscribe to.

Q: Help! I have a mac with a built in cam that works fine, but on blogTV it says that I do not have a cam connected. How can I fix this?
|
|
A: First of all, make sure you are using FireFox as a browser and not Safari. Safari can be used with blogTV but will be buggy. To make your built in camera work, right click on the grey broadcasting screen and pick settings. For the built in iSight camera the correct choice is "USB CLASS VIDEO". The default setting will not be the correct one so you will have to change it. You can choose FireWire camera in that settings menu which will be the best way to record/broadcast.

Q: Some people have pictures, tickers and all sorts of effects on their broadcasts. How can I get that too? Also, how can I broadcast without a webcam?
|
|
A: You can use a program like ManyCam.com, WebCam Max or CamTwist (if you are on a MAC) to create those sort of effects. You can also use these programs to upload prerecorded material to your blogTV account making it easy and fun to use video clips as part of your show. These programs can be used by people without webcams to show still pictures while broadcasting.

Q: I deleted my account and now I want my name back. What do I do?
|
|
A: Unfortunately when a member deletes his/her own account it cannot be recovered for security reasons. We do not want people taking over names that were deleted, only to come back and impersonate a person who is no longer on the site. If you want the account deactivated but not deleted, contact your community manager at community@blogTV.com and ask her to temporarily deactivate your account for you.
